The Promises She Keeps

The story has a little bit of religion and a little of supernatural. This is a great read for fiction lovers.

A girl named Promise wants to be remembered for having a fantastic voice, she has cystic fibrosis.
Chase is an autistic artist whom loves to draw trees and he becomes attracted to Promise.
Zack is talented in taking photographs. But he has a loon for a mother, Porta.
Porta dabbles in the supernatural and promotes her art gallery.
Chase, Zack, and Porta all desire Promise but for different reasons.
Porta thinks Promise has eternal life, cause she has survived a series of freak accidents.
Chase prophesies and predicts a few deaths.

To me the first chapter is kind of boring, i kept having to read sentences over again to remember what it was. But the second chapter was much better, and drew me into wanting to read the book further. The descriptions are great, and really let you imagine the places and people.
The ending was a little sad, but it was a great ending. All in all i loved this book.

It also has an excerpt from "Never Let You Go" and I thing it sounds neat

Left at the Alter

Kimberly Kennedy takes her tragic experience of being left at the alter and offers hope to all who have experienced rejection in any area of life. She takes us through the 5 stages of rejection: Denial and Isolation, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, Acceptance. She uses Bible verses as a way to show women how a relationship with Christ should be the central matter in their lives.

Her sister writes part of the story as there are details that Kimberley can’t recall because of her shock.

The book ends with steps for dealing with rejection and moving on.

All in all good book to read.

An Amish Love

There is a page in front of the book the tells what some Amish words are that are found in the book, they are in alphabetical order. While reading the book those words are italicized. There are 3 different stories in the book. Healing Hearts, A Marriage of the Heart, and What the Heart Says.

First Story - A Marriage of the Heart
At the beginning a girl, Abigail Kauffman, is annoyed by a guy (by his casual dismissal of her beauty), Joseph Lambert, and to pay him back she says that "he . . . well . . . just made me feel a little uncomfortable with the way he was kissing me . . . and touching . . . and I . . ." Her father then says he will talk to him and they will be married, but that wasn't what she wanted, but her father said to dress in blue (which is the color for marrying). Now she will have to face his scorn.

This story, when read in full, warms the heart. It made me smile in a lot of different parts of the story. Great story that is well written.

Second Story - A Marriage of the Heart
A blind woman, Ellie Chup, who was in an accident 5 years ago, has learned how to cope with being blind. She has a buisness going called Ellie's Jellies. The jelly is in full demand, one person even wants 4 cases made up. She believes no one will ever want her, since her last fiance didn't want to be with her.

Chris is a guy who blames Isaiah (Ellie's Cousin) for the accident that took his fiance's life (the same one from where Ellie was blinded. He moves away 5 years and finally comes back thinking he may be able to forgive Isaiah, until he finds out his sister is marrying him in 2 weeks.

This was a neat story to read, it captures your interest right from the start with the nightmare mentioned.

Third Story - What the Heart Says.
This is about a middle-aged couple who has no children in their house no longer and sets out to rediscover the love that had brought them together before their children. They have been an upstanding members of the community

All in all good reads but i would say my favorite was the first story, then the second and last (but not least) third.

The Way Home (DVD)

A family is leaving for vacation, the father doesn't put the 2 year old boy (there is 3 children in total, but the 2 oldest are in school) in the van as asked by his wife, he lets him play as he goes back in to look at his computer. The son then disappears and the parents start to look, they go and search the house and yard and he doesn't turn up so they go to all their neighbors to see if he has been seen by them and no one has.

After 30 minutes the police is called. Father takes off to look by himself for his 2 year old boy "Joe". Father starts to think about how he was ignoring his children, for his work.

All in all this was a pretty good movie, I got tears in my eyes a few time while watching it.

The Butterfly Effect - How Your Life Matters

This book is much like the children's book, except it has more details that are suited towards the adult readers.

This book is about how one choice can change the world we live in, there are many stories in here that link one person's choice to another person's choice who makes the one choice that lead to the story previous to the one that you just read.

Overall a good book, cause it helps you to understand what a butterfly effect is and what it means to the world.

100 Prayers God Loves to Hear, 100 Praise Songs

This book has wonderful pictures to look at, my daughter loved them. It has many different prayers in it some are ones we knew and others are ones we never seen before. The book is a hard cover. It comes with 2 cds for you to listen to. The songs on those cds are pretty short. My daughter didn't mind them but she isn't into all the much music, but loves being read to and interacting with us while reading the book. (pointing out things).

We read this together. It is a good thing to share with children, so bring this book into your house and check it out.

This book even
has verses from the bible in it.

Venom and Song (The Berinfell Prophecies Series - Book Two)

To start with, I didn't read the first book in the series, this is the first I have heard of it, I read this book in two days.

It starts out with with a list and description of the Principal Cast and Principal Locations. It is a great way to help with understanding the book before reading it.

The characters were well described that you can almost picture them in your mind. They 7 lords must find a way to work the powers to each others to work together to defeat the Spider King. There were some nice twists to the book that will keep you reading once you have begun.

I find this book very well written. This book has certain aspects that kind of remind me of a series of books called Everworld. The ending was neat and the very end could mean there will be another book coming to this series. I am thinking of trying to find the first book to read to find out the rest of the information that this second book hinted at.

A Summer Secret

I began reading this today. It gives you the info on certain Amish terms that are in the book, that are different than we would be used to seeing. (example: boppli means baby). It starts out in the barn, she is not supposed to be in. She is expected to drop whatever she is doing to help out her family. Mary Beth goes to the barn to escape all this.

The Amish terms are italicized to help them stand out for the readers, so you can go back to the front and look it up if needed.

This is a pretty good story. It is made for youths, but as an adult I still liked it well enough. I won't give the book away, but it has a nice and easy story line to follow. It has a nice ending, which may make you smile.

I have to say I really enjoyed reading this story, and it took me less than a day to finish reading it.

Will The World End In 2012?

In this book the author researches 10 different possible end of the world scenarios. They are: The Mayan Factor, Solar Storms, CERN and the Large Hadron Collider, The Predictions of Nostradamus, The Coming Reversal of the North and South Magnetic Poles, Collision with "Planet X", Earth's Alignment with the Galactic Plane, Eruption of the Super Volcano, The Web Bot Project, and last but not least Religious Predictions of the end of the world.

Now it never really answers the question Will The World End In 2012? but I think that this book was very well thought out and researched. Glad to have read it. There was very good points to each scenario that would point one way or another. I never knew there was more than the Mayan calender ending, so that was surprising to learn about. I read this book all in one day, so was a pretty quick read.

I overall was disappointed in the book. I was expecting to see proof that each scenario was untrue, but some he actually supports more. So without it answering the question specifically it is kind of misleading in it's title.
